Graduation Vedaste Ndungutse project NICHE-RWA-185
We are proud to announce that Vedaste Ndungutse, a beneficiary of one of our Nuffic projects in Rwanda, has successfully graduated from Egerton University as a Doctor in Philosophy in Food Science. Vedaste was awarded the chancellors excellence award for his thesis titled: Psycho-chemical-qualities of selected potato [Solanum tuberosum L.] cultivars and their suitability for products diversification in Rwanda. The Nuffic NICHE-RWA-185 project Capacity building for food security through sustainable potato value chain development in Rwanda made this possible.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Nuffic NICHE-RWA-185 project that made this possible is titled: Capacity building for food security through sustainable potato value chain development in Rwanda. In collaboration with DLV Plant, HAS, Egerton University and the University of Pretoria we supported the College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine(CAVM) of the University of Rwanda in strengthening their organisational capacity to provide high quality and relevant training and research programmes on the potato value chain. Also, linkage of CAVM to relevant stakeholders in the potato value chain and individual capacity building of staff was an important part of the project.
