Proposal writing workshop in Mozambique
Recently, Olivia and Carel traveled to Mozambique for the Orange Knowledge Program “Promoting resource smart green technologies in technical professional and higher education, to increase Mozambique’s food production and nutrition security”.
Instituto Superior Politécnico de Manica (ISPM), Instituto de Investigação Agrária de Moçambique (IIAM) and Instituto Agrário de Chimoio (IAC), representing higher education and research institutions in Mozambique are scoping for opportunities to undertake impactful projects to address community issues surrounding the institutions, for social accountability, education and research purposes. For this purpose a workshop was organized on project proposal development. In total 70 participants worked together on 13 project initiatives. The main issues to be addressed were:
- food security
- malnutrition among children
- health and sanitation
- biodiversity
- natural conservation
- economic development
- women’s empowerment.
The diverse backgrounds of participants helped in looking critically to the project proposals, to minimize negative spin off effects and work towards positive impact on social, economic and conservation outcomes.
In the next few months, participants will be supported in further development of the project proposals.
A small impression of the training:
