Training: proposal writing for women’s empowerment in Rwanda
Our colleagues Olivia, Lisa and Feline had the pleasure of facilitating a follow up training for FAWE Rwanda on proposal writing and the integration of gender in business development and entrepreneurship support.
Fundraising is part of the tasks of FAWE employees, to be able to support their mission of promoting gender equality in education and empowerment by fostering positive policies, practices, and attitudes towards inclusion and women’s empowerment. Therefore, the training focused on identifying relevant tenders and donors, and more importantly on writing proposals in teams guided by the facilitators. We focused on learning by doing and organised for three donor project proposals. The FAWE team effort was much appreciated, since collaboration is key to become winning proposal writers! You might wonder, how can you describe a winning proposal writer? Well, by doing so you do not describe the personal qualifications of just one person, since proposal writing is a team effort. Some participants were the best editors, while some had the most creative minds. We believe that combining efforts among the FAWE team in writing, editing, organizing and networking, together with active stakeholder engagements and grassroot inquiries, will strengthen the project proposal process very much.
By emphasizing on practice at the core of the training, we are glad that we ended the training week with three draft proposals that are hopefully ready to be submitted soon. With these proposals, let’s aim for an increase in the capacity of FAWE to continue working on its great mission!
